Warren and Barbara Brecht

Warren and Barbara Brecht have lived in Nyack for 18 years. Warren has four adult children by his first marriage and six grandchildren. He is a retired business executive. Barbara is an ordained UCC minister and is a chaplain at Compassionate Care Hospice in Bergen County, N.J. She is an acquaintance of our former associate pastor, Diane Lacey-Winley, and first came to our church to hear Diane preach. Barbara has twice been our guest preacher. She and Warren are volunteers at the Nyack Center where Barbara serves as chair of the Board of Directors. They enjoy traveling. Warren follows the Yankees and keeps up with world events. Barbara serves on the board of directors of the Metro Association UCC and is chair of the personnel committee. She enjoys opera and theater. Although Warren and Barbara were active members of the Riverside Church in Manhattan, where Warren served on the church council as treasurer, vice chair and chair of budget and planning committee, they were drawn to UCSV by its friendliness, vibrancy, inspiring minister and preacher, diversity, and social justice ministry. For Barbara, God is her constant companion, blessing her with richness of life. Warren says he continues to seek to strengthen his faith in God and in Jesus.
