Ruth & Don Guerrero

Both Ruth and Don were born in the Philippines and lived in New Jersey before moving to Hillcrest in 1979.  They have three grown children: Aimee, George and Julie.  They began attending United Church in early 2010, seeking a family-oriented and diverse church and finding United Church to be warm, friendly and embracing.

Don is retired from working in senior management for an insurance company and had been an entomologist in the Philippines. He enjoys reading, gardening, bowling, and improving the environment by going "green."  He picks us the recyclables from the church twice a week and serves on the Going Green Committee. His favorite hymn is "How Great Thou Art." Psalm 23 is his favorite scripture passage.

Ruth is a registered nurse by profession and worked over 30 years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in nursing management/administration.  In retirement she is a community health nurse.  Ruth is interested in health care-related activities and currently is involved in monitoring health care needs of the developmentally disabled at Saint Dominic's Home.  Her favorite hymn is "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and her favorite scripture passage is James 1:2-4.
