Fun & Fellowship
The church has several groups that socialize or fellowship outside of the Sunday service. It gives members and friends a sense of community and allows an informal setting to learn more about and support each other. In addition to these groups the church has fellowship events such as eating out together, game night at the church, summer concerts at West Point, potluck gatherings and an annual picnic at the RCA Warwick Conference Center.
Crossbearers Youth Group
Our Crossbearers youth group involves teens in a wide variety of activities, and currently meets on Sunday afternoons or evenings. Throughout the year the youth participate in service projects within the Church such as preparing and serving dinner through the Safe Haven project which serves the homeless, and making sandwiches for the Rockland Interfaith Breakfast Program which serves the hungry in our community. We participate in the ‘Souper Bowl of Caring’ each winter to stock food supplies in local food pantries.
We have discussions on various topics with each other and adult leaders on such as issues as sexuality, bullying, and mental health. Other events include planning meetings, game nights, pool parties or short trips including to the NY Renaissance Fair and Jesters in Goshen.
Our motto is FAITH, FUN, FELLOWSHIP. We love visitors and welcome every teen.
Women’s Fellowship Group
The UCSV Women’s Fellowship group meets once a month after the Sunday service. Women of all ages are welcomed to attend.
We are a diverse group of Christian women who share our spiritual life as we gather to learn how to give our best support to the United Church of Spring Valley, explore and understand ourselves and each other better, by enriching each others prayer life, and enjoying each others company, as we move forward in our own fellowship and as we come together within our own communities, by the sharing of our own faith in the work that we do.
The group holds a Conversation Café every other month to create a warm and supportive, heart-centered and caring environment of women getting together and do what we do best, support each other in conversation. Future Cafés will invite informed individuals from the community to talk about resources available for various needs.
The UCSV Women’s Fellowship will be implementing many projects in the near future including conversations around books people have read, helping charitable organizations during the holidays, nursing home visitations, Prayer Partners/Pen Pals to women at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and more Bake Sales.
Men’s Fellowship Group
The UCSV Men’s Fellowship gathers at 9:00am at the Nanuet Diner for breakfast on Saturday mornings every other month. Most times the men then travel back to the church for service projects. The group helps take care of the church building and grounds, prepares the fellowship hall for our many dinner gatherings and holiday celebrations like our Olde Fashioned Christmas. The men also provide a Pancake Brunch after worship on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.
